Written scope controls
Engagement-specific cancellation, rescheduling, deposit, milestone, expense, and refund terms will be stated before paid work begins. Clients should review those terms before signing or paying an invoice.
Before work begins
If Cobalt determines before starting substantive work that it cannot accept the engagement, prepaid professional fees for work not performed will be returned. Approved nonrefundable setup fees, third-party charges, or expenses already incurred may be excluded when disclosed in the written scope.
After work begins
Once work begins, fees cover professional time, reserved capacity, analysis, and deliverables completed—not a guaranteed certification, audit result, compliance determination, or security outcome. If an engagement ends early, Cobalt will account for work performed, approved expenses, committed third-party costs, and any cancellation terms in the written agreement. Any remaining refundable balance will be addressed under that agreement and applicable law.
Rescheduling
Meetings may be rescheduled subject to consultant availability and the notice requirements in the engagement scope. Repeated delays, unavailable client stakeholders, or missing access may affect delivery dates and may require a revised scope.
Retainers and recurring advisory
Recurring services are governed by their written agreement, including billing frequency, renewal, notice period, treatment of unused capacity, transition support, and any nonrefundable amounts.
Requesting a review
Send a written request to direct@cobaltriskadvisory.com with the client name, invoice number, engagement name, and reason for the request. Cobalt will review the applicable agreement and service record. Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method when practical; bank processing times may vary.
